Dr. Georges Wagnières earned his PhD in Physics (Biomedical Optics) from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, in 1992. He subsequently completed his postdoctoral research at the Wellman Laboratories of Photomedicine, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA (1993-1994). In 2001, he further expanded his expertise by obtaining a Master's degree in Management, Technology, and Entrepreneurship from the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Lausanne. In 1994, Dr. Wagnières established and led a research group at EPFL, focusing on photomedicine and biomedical optics. His academic career has resulted in over 245 publications, including more than 160 peer-reviewed articles in international journals. He is also credited as an inventor on 18 patents. Dr. Wagnières' entrepreneurial spirit led him to co-found two spin-off companies, where he served as chairman. His areas of expertise encompass:• Photobiomodulation• Photodynamic therapy• Light delivery and dosimetry• Tissue optics• Tissue characterization and malignancy detection using fluorescence spectroscopy and imaging• Preclinical and clinical development and characterization of photosensitizers, fluorescent markers, and photodiagnostic instruments
